Remote Counseling Questions
Can I receive Navy College counseling while deployed or remotely located without access to a phone?
Yes, sailors with limited phone access and a challenging daily routine have the option to complete their counseling electronically. This will be initiated with “The Navy College Remote Counseling Form”. This will help the Navy College counselor understand the sailor's education goals and allow the service member to establish an education plan and receive counseling so they can move along to the next step of their personal and professional journey.
In order to use this method of counseling, the sailor must be in one of the following statuses:
- Serving on a command (Type 2 or Type 4) that is currently on deployment.
- Serving on a unit that is underway for two weeks or more.
- Serving in a remote or isolated area.
- On shift work and has exhausted all other attempts to reach the NCVEC for telephone counseling during normal working hours (Mon-Fri, 0700-1900 EST).
To initiate the remote counseling process the sailor completes the Navy College Remote Counseling Form and submits it as an attachment to a LiveHelpNow ticket requesting remote counseling. NOTE: The sailor must provide justification as to why they desire remote counseling.
A Navy College counselor will verify the justification for remote counseling and respond back to the sailor. If remote counseling is justified the counselor will review the form, upload the document to the sailor's NCMIS files, and continue to communicate with the sailor until counseling is complete.
